Over the river and through the woods...
And saw the girl who's father was killed in a car crash while she was going to Atlanta to audition? She talked to him on the phone, then 1/2 hour later her brother called to tell her he was in a wreck and died.

She changed her song choice to "How can I live without you" (I think that is the title). I'm SO glad she could actually sing and was able to go to hollywood. If she was one of those that couldn't sing, that would have been heartbreaking for her to be denied when her father was so much behind her all the way.

I almost lost it during that song, and so did DH (believe it or not!) What a great dedication.

I was crossing my fingers so tight that she could actually sing! Oh, man, was I glad she could.

And that guy at the end, too, who lived in his car? I really liked him; I thought he was different and had a really interesting voice. I was praying that he didn't suck, too

So glad they both made it through!

I really like it when they give a back story on the folks that make it, Simon is always saying that the audience needs to get to know the contestants and those stories help a lot! I think it's a real waste of time when they give background on people who don't make it

I liked the live in his car guy too! I also really liked the "rocker nurse"
One of the very very very few who actually did Janis Joplin some justice

I must haved missed all of her story... all I caught was that her father had died but none of the specifics of it.

I thought the beauty queen was funny too... how they all wanted her to be bad because she was so annoying.

Ugh! She reminded me of Kellie Pickler, not quite as dumb, but close and just as annoying, lol.

yes..very sad story and glad that girl could sing!
I found the last guy didn't sing that well though. I think the judges sometimes get caught up in the stories and it influences their decision.

The girl who's father died though was very good

I DID lose it!
I'm such a wuss.

I'm so glad she made it through - she deserved it.

I liked the motorcycle/rocker girl, too.
She was cool, and could really sing!
She kinda reminds me of Gina, from last year's AI. I still can't believe that she got kicked off before Sanjaya did..
For that matter, I can't believe that Sanjaya made it as far as he did!

The beauty queen kinda got on my nerves: she reminds me of Marcia Brady in a way - lil' Miss Perfect, who never does anything wrong.

Oh, the nurse did great! But, I could just see my Grandma if she came in and said "I'm your nurse." I think she would have a heart attack right then and there! But her voice is awesome and I love her attitude. I just can't see her in Hello Kitty scrubs!

I must say I don't like all the sob stories. That is happening over here a lot in recent series of The X Factor and much as I might sympathise with an individual in different circumstances, I find portraying all these sob stories during the show a real turn off and, in the later stages, nothing more than an attempt to get the sympathy vote. It also means that anyone without a sob story is at a bit of a disadvantage. I'd rather just judge someone on their singing and performing ability.

I also wonder at these people who turn up for the initial auditons and are so willing to share very personal stories with millions of people so readily. Call me cyncical, but I tend to instantly dislike those who seem to be playing for the sympathy vote.
