I work in downtown Norfolk, so traffic after work can be fun, especially for those of us who have to go through the tunnel. I've changed my hours by 30 minutes because it seems that it's a little better at 5:30. Well, today I got in my car at 5:40 and it ended up taking me 30 minutes to go TWO BLOCKS. Well, after I almost pulled my hair out and was hoarse from yelling at all of the people running the light that was making me stand still I get to the corner where I turn and there are WAR PROTESTORS standing there- THAT is what was slowing down traffic!!
So here is my problem, other that the fact I think they're all idiots - the people they are protesting have volunteered to go over there to protect their right to protest... but that's not my point right now. It was 6:00 at night and everyone driving by is going home, NOT going to vote. So what good was that doing?? And anyway, seeing annoying people keep traffic backed up is NOT going to change my vote!!

Sorry, had to rant

It's a high traffic area and a big traffic tie up is news worthy and will get them publicity which is what they are seeking. Protest in one spot and have the media distribute if completely free for you to all of the city, state and probably country. Free advertising for them.

Personally, I would have called the police to describe the protesters impeding traffic. I'm all for expressing your opinion, but stopping traffic?
