Ok, so Wednesday I walked another 30 minutes and was still completely wrecked from the day before, so couldnt have done much more. Yesterday I went to a small local zoo with a couple of friends and their bubs, so spent another 2 hours walking around.

My lower back is feeling pretty sore from all the walking. All the muscles in my chest and upper back that got damaged from surgery are still repairing, so are weak, and my lower back is weakened also and taking all the strain. So today I'll be taking it easy, and maybe just giving the recline bicycle thingy a go to support my back a bit.

I like the idea of this challenge, as I am in the same boat. Something like this is usually easier and more effective if done as a group effort.

I have a great motivator to get me to my gym. It is the
dues that they charge me! But this thread seems great to me. It makes sure I get there at least 5x per week.
Thanks for this awesome thread.

Ok, after a week of being sick, I finally got to the gym and did a work out!

I only managed to do 30 minutes on the treadmill. I was aiming for 50 minutes. And I had to go at a reduced speed because my asthma is bothering me. I also did an Aquafit class and all of my resistance training.

I've been slowly working on getting in shape. Exercising a little bit every other day. I don't know if I can go as far as an hour though.

My SO bought me a balance ball with some weights and a little 30 min dvd. I did it twice this week as well as ran for 30 min 3x this week on the treadmill. I went to the store and stocked up on plenty of green tea 100 calorie snacks and some salad mixins.

I've been on Weight Watchers since the beginning of Dec and have lost 10 lbs so far. It's not noticable but I feel better, my self-esteem is high and I am more motivated to get out there and exercise.

On a side note, to set a goal, I've decided to enter a Sprint Triathlon on May 18. It is a 300 meter swim, 8.4 mile bike and a 2.5 mile run.

I've been either on the treadmill or walking outside plus some weights at home. On the treadmill I add 30 seconds every time I am on it. (at 36.5 minutes) Yes I could do more but do not want to push my luck!! So far so good!! Went out to lunch today-had a beer my only one this week (until I got home and had another) and ordered mac and cheese but didn't even eat half (lunch tomorrow). So far so good!!

Oh I know how that is! Asthma is part of the reason I was sick this last week, and when I was able to go, that I wasn't able to do as much on the treadmill as I had been doing the week before.

My neighbour across the hall from me used to leave their poopy diaper garbage bag in the hallway instead of taking it to the dumpster. I guess they didn't want it to smell up their apartment, so they figured it was ok to smell up the hallway!
Anyway, I wrote a letter to the agency and they must have gotten a letter about it because they haven't done it since.

HOWEVER, they have now taken to spraying gads of Lysol in their apartment and the hallway. The smell seeps under my door and has been really exacerbating my asthma. When I go into the hallway I cough until I nearly throw up! I thought I was going to have to make a trip to the ER for a breathing treatment one day!

I printed out a notice asking them to stop, and I also wrote a letter to the agency. They've since stopped which is why I was able to get to the gym today!

So do what you can. This isn't a marathon or race. Just a pledge to ourselves to get our bodies up and moving

Count me in too. I'm pretty healthy, but I could certainly be more active.

For the last few months, I have been avoiding elevators and escalators whenever possible and it is making a difference. I can out-run the elevator at work
(ok, it's a pretty slow elevator and I don't even have to run)

I have also started yoga classes, which is more physically demanding than I expected. I'm pretty happy about that. The day after the first class, my muscles were so sore I could barely move. But then for the last two weeks, no tired muscles at all. I'll have to complain to the instructor that he's not making me work enough

At home I have also been doing some stretches every morning and I'm also trying to do an exercise we do in yoga that I find extremely difficult. Basically, I lie on my back on the floor, put my hands under my butt, keep my legs straight, with toes pointing towards my head... and I life my legs with my abdominal muscles.
that's hard!
(note: don't try this at home without having instructions first. You could hurt your back if you do it wrong)

I went to the gym today to do strictly stretches and cardio. My chest was still feeling a bit tight from my asthma, but I managed to do 2 - 20 minute stints on the treadmill at the pace I was at 1 week ago. And I did 10 minutes on the arm bike and 45 minutes of aquafit.

Tomorrow I go for my full routine: stretches, cardio, resistance and aquafit. So I have to be there for 6:30am!!

I finally made it back to the gym

I remembered to dig up clean exercise clothes this morning and stopped in tonight. Yesterday I broke into my old pilates DVD for 30 minutes (flat tummy!)
Then today I was on the elliptical for 30 minutes doing "the hill" which is mostly gluteal and thigh workout.

Wooo Whooo!!!
Just don't over do it since you haven't exercised in a while. Start small and work your way up. Going gung ho and getting injured is a sure way to exercise avoidance

I went to the gym this morning too. Managed to do 40 minutes continuous on the treadmill, but only at 1.7 speed instead of 1.9 that I was at a week ago. My asthma is still bothering me and my neighbours are back to using Lysol in the hallways
I started back on my steroid inhaler last night. Hopefully it will help. I also did all of my resistance training and a really intense aquafit class. I wish the guy who teaches on Mondays would do more morning classes because sometimes I just don't feel I get much out of some of the other instructors' classes. With Raul, he makes you work so hard that you actually sweat in the pool!!

I'm taking tomorrow off because Homecare comes to clean tomorrow. But then again, a couple weeks ago she was supposed to be here but didn't show up because she said it was too cold outside. It's just as cold this week.

Did the gym today again. Only did 45 minutes on the treadmill and 20 minutes on the arm bike. I should have done some resistance work on the machines, but my shoulder and hip were bothering me today so I passed on the weights to give my joints a bit of a rest. I didn't have time for an aquafit class because I had an education class I had to attend today as part of the rehab program I'm in. But I'm definitely going to fit it in on Friday, which is the next time I go to the gym.

Keep up the good work everyone! I see lots of activity and even a few pounds being shed by some! That's wonderful! Yay for us!!!!

I've been trying to eat healthier and get some excercise since a bit after the new year... Lost 17 pounds so far...

Problem is too much excercise makes my knees ache something awful and I can't get to a pool to swim (my prefered excercise!)
