I stopped by the PetSmart near my home - not the one where I volunteer - and the staff knows me by sight, etc.

Anyway, I go into the cat adoption area to visit.. and this other woman comes in. We start out having a nice little chat about kitties and the subject came around to wet v. dry. I said I thought in general wet was better for digestion, b/c of protein v/s filler - per the info I have learned here.

She said, well, I beg to disagree but hey that's life.

I figured, ok. I went to wash my hands and when I came back and tried talking to her again, man.... she went off on me. "PLEASE DON'T TALK TO ME, MA'AM!!!!!! YOU'RE INTERFERING WITH ME INTERACTING WITH THE CATS. I JUST WANT TO INTERACT WITH THE CATS!!!! LEAVE ME ALONE!!!!!!"

I SAID, I'M SORRY, I WAS JUST.....

"I SAID, YOU'RE BOTHERING ME!!!! YOU ARE KEEPING ME FROM TALKING TO THE CATS. LEAVE ME ALONE!!!!! YOU NEED TO LEAVE!!!!!"

I said, I am sorry you have a problem...

"IIIIIIII DON'T HAVE A PROBLEM YYYOOOOOOOOOUUUU HAVE A PROBLEM.!!!!!!

I should have known not to get into it with someone who was obviously unstable, but after a few more exchanges and a threat from her to "call the manager" and what... have me tossed from the store, I guess... I walked to the front.

I was about to tell the head cashier,Maureen, about this woman when the woman came barreling up, shouting, "Oh NO you don't, Oh NO, you don't! I want to speak to the manager!!!!!!!!"

I said , I'm going to go, thinking I don't want this to escalate b/c this woman seems emotionally distraught.

But it upset me. So I called the store when I got home. Maureen told me the manager came up and did the Uh-huh, head-nodding routine while the woman vented and that was that. I said I want you to know nothing happened. That a simple conversation quickly escalated into something totally crazy. Maureen said, I know that, don't worry.

I don't know this person's name, but I am thinking I should give that rescue, called Guardian Angels, a heads-up or should I just drop it? BTW, she said she had tried to adopt from the rescue that was there before and didn't have any luck. Gee, I wonder why?

ouch those things are rough to deal with.
I said Hi once to someone during college, she said hi back started talking.
Next thing i know she was ranting and raving yelling at the top of her lungs.

i just got up and walked away. From what teh security guards told me, they had to have some people came and take her away

Can you say whacko??

LOL, sounds like the same lady that verbally attacked me in my retail store! Then accused me of stalking her and threatened to hire a lawyer to get me fired
Interesting to say the least.....

I'm sure that her instability surfaces easily (obviously) and that's why she has been declined when trying to adopt..... can't help but feel bad for people like that....

I think one poster agreed that I should contact the rescue in case this woman tries to adopt. I don't know if I should mix in that far, besides, I don't know her name.

She's as nutty as the woman who insisted one of our shelter cats was her long-lost baby, eventhough her male cat had been neutered and our baby boy came to us intact. Her comment was," maybe they grew back."

There's all sorts of people out there -- but that is definately way over the top.

If you tell them what time and date it was, they have a calendar and signatures to figure out who was there that night. Maureen might be of help too. I just can't help but think...what if I wanted to adopt one of the cats and she went off on me like that, believe me, I wouldn't come back. Some people might get turned off from rescuing at all and just go buy a kitten at the pet store. If someone was hurting my cats' chances for adoption I would wanna know about it.
