Vocalizing...what's wrong?

Stormy is about 6 months old. She has always been fairly vocal. From your run of the mill meows and purrs to the crys when she wants down or wants attention. The past couple of days tho, she has walked around making a deep, almost mournful sound...alot. Loving on her doesn't seem to help and she seems fine. Could she be in heat? We are still waiting for our turn at the vet...We are a one vet town.

Yes, she could be in heat. She'll likely try to escape, so I suggest putting 2 doors between her & outside. She'll do most everything possible to get out.

How long of a wait do you have to get her spayed? If it's a pretty long wait and if you have another nearby city, I would try to get her in sooner to another vet. Her being in heat is misery for both of you and you really do have to keep an eye on her.
