hi i'm bluebell, i'm new to the forum.

i've just had some devestating news... my precious furry friend merlin(moo) has heart failure.
he's home now but it is so hard not knowing how long i have left with him.

he is everything to me.. i have me/cfs and autoimmune hypothyroidism so i dont work and am housebound. i lost all my friends a while ago cos they couldnt cope with me being illm, so moo has been my best friend for 11 years now.

im finding it hard to get my head around this. i love him so much.

he's been put on diuretics, but they have to be careful as his kidneys arnt too great.

they will see him again in a ciouple of weeks to maybe put him on some heart meds.

im so devestated, blue x

I have just joined also, and my 13 year old cat Floyd has cateracts and going blind.I have been crying for days.I realize how hard it is when it comes to the health of your loving pet. They are like your kids.
I will keep your cat in my prayers ,when I pray for my Floyd.
May God's angel comfort your cat.
I care for all animals.
With warm thoughts,
John:rainbowheart:

I also will have you in my prayers. And if those so called friends left you, then they were not really your friends. My friends have been with me in the best times and the worst times of my life. There will be new and better friends out there and God will send them your way.

I am so sorry that you got this news. It's never fun to find out that your loved one is ill. I am a nurse and one thing I have learned is that animals and humans are remarkably similar in both disease processes and the medications used. In humans, heart failure is not a death sentence and many people live years with the condition, so I would think that kitties would be able to live a few cat years with it. I will keep you and Moo in my prayers.

I hope your Cat will be ok. I just lost two 5 year old Cats. One they thought had Fip because the test came up Pos but after they found alot of Kidney Stones in each Kidney. He was given 6 Months to 2 Years last may but was Pts Jan 11. His name was Yoshi. I loss Stormy to Kidney Failure. Coco is amost 16 and every year she is sick with something. I hope there are some pills that will help your Cat.

Best wishes for your Moo - he's lucky to have such a wonderful mom. How wonderful for you both to have shared so much love between you.

You will find you have many friends here to whom you can talk about Moo and anything else you wish to air. But I do hope that Moo has a long time with you yet, and that with the proper medication he will enjoy a good quality of life.

I hope the meds work and give him lots of time. I know humans who have had lots of time with it, and it could be like kidney failure in cats - not an immediate death sentence, something that they can live with for a while.
