My chubby furball recently developed a dry patch on his back just above his tail. I'm sure it's just from the fact that he can't reach there since he's packed on the pounds. I tried an indoor cat formula which I think depleted him of needed fats from his diet, combine that with the fact that my house is dry this winter.
Anyway, does anyone have any easy ways to condition his skin/get rid of his dry patch? I was thinking of putting on some oil (olive or almond) over the dry patch, letting it soak in, brushing away the flakes, & washing the area. Would that be safe to use? I know too much olive oil will have a laxative effect but since he can't reach that area anyway I'm not sure how much of a problem that would be. I got the idea because it reminded me of my baby's cradle cap which I treated in much the same way.
