Mods feel free to move this if you'd like....

Here's the slide show: http://www.nytimes.com/packages/html...URE/index.html

Here's the article: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/02/02/sp...nted=3&_r=1&hp

So, the slide show made me cry. At work. Goodness I'm a sucker.

**SOB**I just want to hug poor Georgia...

Those poor poor dears.... It's amazing and awesome that a sancuary is giving them a chance. Chances are they will probably live their lives out there.

Don't you though? My favorite picture is the over head shot showing the doggie on the bed with toys all over the place. That's the type of life that these dogs should have. A warm bed, toys, tons of good food, and love.

There was another lot of the Vick dogs that went to Cali to BAD RAP and went straight into foster care.
In the grand scheme of things, very few of these dogs were euthanized due to aggression issues/health.

Here is the article on those dogs

That brought tears to my eyes. Those poor dogs.

The sentence that Vick got was not long enough, but there is a special place in hades for him.

I would love to adopt Georgia.

I didn't even know there were sanctuaries for former fighting dogs. That is probably the only option other than being PTS. Not because of the breed but because of the environment they have come from.

No, the 22 in Utah are at No More Homeless Pets, they are being individually rehabbed for placement.
The Agressive, unplaceable dogs were euthanized.

What a good ending to a tragic life - and the story of Georgia... It's so great to hear that these dogs have a chance at a new (and happy) life as a beloved pet.

The photo of Georgia curled up on the lap of the guy lying on her bed is heartbreaking. Despite everything, she still loves people. It just blows your mind.

I have a feeling a shelter worker is going to adopt her. They seem to love her a lot.
