Thank you for the updates.

Please let me know how mama and kittens get along as they get bigger. I have a pregnant cat, Pennie, and I'd like to keep some of her litter. I've been cautioned that mama often rejects the kittens when they get bigger. So, I'm curious how the group does.

Well, in this case we won't be keeping momma. She is a foster cat so will be finding a home when the kittens are old enough to go to their homes as well. But from past experience of seeing kittens kept with their momma throughout their lives, I've never known a momma to reject the kittens... if anything they have a strong family bond. But obviously cats are individuals, and I'm sure there are cases where they do not get along when the kittens are grown.

Day 28

Weights for today:

Orion - 13.8 ounces
Cookie - 13.4 ounces
Bailey - 12.8 ounces
Rufus - 13.6 ounces
Joey - 13.2 ounces

The kittens are 4 weeks old today!!!! It's so hard to believe that it's already been a month since they were born, it seems like it was just yesterday. Since this month flew by so quickly, I know that the next month and a half will fly as well... and soon it will be time for Joey and Bailey to leave for their new homes.

And I mentioned the other day that Callie would soon be re-named. We decided on the name Cookie for her, in honor of a cat I knew when I was little. The original Cookie was a cute little orange tabby that showed up at my apartment building one day when I was about 6 years old. We weren't allowed to have pets there but she stuck around and I fed her and played with her every day. One day she disappeared and I called for her for several days. Finally, about 5-6 days after she disappeared, she came limping to me. She had been shot 29 times with a BB gun by one of the neighborhood kids. One of the residents of the apartments called animal control and they came and took her and put her to sleep. I will always love that cat and I thought it was time to have another kitty named after her.

Did Cookie always have the white underbelly, or did her color change after birth?

How adorable. I think Joey is my favorite. Orion seems like he's the boldest.

She was born with the white belly and white feet, although I think the white seems to be in bigger patches now that she's growing.

Orion is definitely the boldest, but all of the boys are for the most part. Bailey is the shyest of the whole group, and usually just sits in a little corner and observes everyone else.

Day 29

AWWWWW! Little messy faces! What is it about kids -- of any species -- with messy faces? So so so so sweet! I've been lurking in this thread, and having a ball seeing the little ones develop, but this one I just could not pass up commenting on.

Such cute little messy eaters! Oh gosh, those pics are priceless!
