I download pod casts of books so I can listen to them when I walk. Yes. I'm a nerd. Stop laughing.
They cost the price of a regular MP3 download.
Go to half.com and buy them!!!! I have found so many books for my college classes on tape/cd for under $15. They have great deals and if you aren't particular you can find A LOT of good deals on there.
I'm in my car at least 3-4 hours a week so I get a lot of "reading" done.
I listen to books on CD all the time.
My brother normally buys them (he drives for a living) and i borrow them. I think they are exciteing and verry interesting.
OUr local library has a collection of books on tape that I somtimes borrow from. Youmight want to check out your library.

I agree on checking at your local library. I've only listen to one once will driving to a seminar in another state. It was pretty good!!
Our state public radio has "Chapter a Day" which is good to listen to also. The reader is very good!! www.wpr.org if you want to check it out.

actually our library here has an " audiobook" lending library online...
all I have to do is log in with my library card..and download it...
and there are some that will even let you burn them off...
I haven't had the energy to do that yet.

I have occasionally. I don't buy them though. I borrow them from the library. It's hard to get unabridged ones though.

www.emusic.com they have a whole section of books on MP3.
Cracker Barrel does a cool thing for travelers You can rent an audio DVD at one Cracker Barrel and return it at the next one.
That's good to know. I'll have to remember that for my next road trip.
Does anyone know a good site to buy the unabridged "Lord of the Rings" audio books? My library doesn't have them and I know it's not something that I will want to borrow anyway. I'm so in love with those books that I want to have them in my collection and be able to listen to them whenever I want...which I know will be often!
I get them from my library and use iTunes to rip them to my iPod - it's free! I love the library. The normal 'audiobooks' download my library offers doesn't work with iPods.
I listen to books while commuting, riding my bike (I keep the volume low so I can hear around me) and when walking. The only thing I don't like is if I want to page back to clarify something it is impossible to do it like a book. Sometimes while driving I'll miss something in the story and I hate not being able to flip the page back and re-read. Oh well.

Yes, we like to listen to them if we are going on a long road trip. It really helps the time go by faster. We do not buy them though. We either get them from the library or download them.
