We've been taking care of a stray kitten for a while now and was thinking of brining him to the vet so he can get shots and fixed. He is about 7 months old now. Is it safe for him to get the operation done? I am just worried, he is old enough? And could any problems happen?

yes, old enough for shots and neuter.

some vets base it on weight but most go by age.
you'll have to get all the shots first, but they should actually do all the vaccinations for you at the same time of the fix.

Mine were done at about 4 months

oh and no, I wouldn't worry about complications, males bounce back very quickly from this. I would say once the drugs wear off you won't even know he's had it done, he'll be back to his crazy self the following day.

Thanks for the assurance!

We plan on getting him all the shots he needs at the same time too.

good on you for taking care of this kitty.

Mine were all done at 10 weeks, before I got them.

Kittens usually start shots about 8 weeks old and can be neutered as young as 8 weeks - tho I would say they should be done at 3 months.

So he's not to young or old to get it done. In fact, now is the time before he starts hunting down unspayed females and mates and/or starts spraying.

Get his shots and make an appointment to get him neutered asap.
