I'm hoping that you all may be able to shed some light. One of my little fluff butts, Arashi, is stinky! His 2 brothers and sister are just fine, but little dude is kind of skunky. It's not his pooper, it's just over all. He is 6 weeks old this week and there is absolutely nothing wrong with him. Checked out just fine, very healthy, eats well, plays, actually is a holy terror as he is a tortie. But he is just kinda' pewwie. Is it too early to try to give him a bath with a little baby shampoo or something? I love when he's being cuddly, but whooo...kitty has a little BO going on.

Any advice from my sage cat companions?

Many thanks in advance!!!

I looked after a cat once that showed no sign of being unwell but started to stink to high heaven. I just thought he`d been at something disgusting in the hay barn but turned out he had a bite wound on his neck that had gone septic.

Has the cat always been smelly? Did you have the vet check it?

i would agree with jaffacake. unless my kittens have been wrestling and biting each other, then they smell a little of cat spit, other than that they smell, well, lovely and mooshy!

might be worth a visit to the vet.

Vet was consulted. Nothing wrong with the little guy. Blood work, you name it. He's not received any outer body injuries either. I didn't notice his stinkiness until recently and then we took a trip up the street.

He is on a kitten chow food. Here in Brazil, we don't have access to some of the foods that I fed my cats that I had in the states, so we make do with what we have. He has only been going to the litterbox and eating food for about 2 weeks. I think that's also when the stinkiness started to happen.

We have Whiskas here. That's about the extent of the canned food. Royal Canin is the most expensive brand that's here. It's tough pickins when it comes to getting good food for them. Thankfully meat itself is fairly low cost, so their diet always gets supplimented with beef or chicken.

What's good to eat for one cat may not be good for another, so I've read. Some cat's digestive system doesn't agree with certain foods so you may want to try another quality product (high protein, low/no corn).

Any change in food should be gradual. 25% new food for a couple days, then 50%, then 75%, then 100% new food after the first week. Good luck!

Sharky, that would be great and very appreciated. Anything would be better, IMO, than the food they have here. I'm used to going to the pet stores in the States and getting all manner of good things up there, it's just not possible here.

Oh, and for the record...I'm a girl. *grin*

I also gave the little stinker *chuckle* a nice bath tonight. Seems like things are OK for now. We'll see.
