Hello all, I was hoping to get some advice, my Dad just picked up a 5 year old Himalayan from a breeder yesterday, she is beautiful and for the hour ride home was very content until the last 20 minutes or so and she started to cry a bit. All evening and thru thi night she was crying constantly, only stopping when she was picked up or sitting with my dad. He has no other animals, only babysat a persian for a few weeks prior to "Charlie" now. She went up to bed with him and cryed all night and even bit hs neck and arm once, he is not sure what to do, she goes to the vet tomorrow am to be fixed....this cat was living in a cattery for the most part of her life. Will Charlie quiet down after being fixed, or is this her nature...when we went to see her before taking her home, she never even made a sound..please help as I want Charlie and my Dad to have a happy life together! Thanks for all your help!

She still will need some time to get adjusted to the new place. It can take weeks sometimes. You just have to be patient with them. About the biting -- was it a harsh bite or tender? If she followed him to bed she doesn't sound too uncomfortable with him.

Try keeping her in one room for a week or so, where she'll feel less 'out there' (after living in a cage for so long, a whole house is scary!). Tell your father not to over-pet her - the stimulation can make them turn and bite after a while. Make sure she has a box and water all the time, and maybe some dry food to nibble.
