Possible Cure For Cancer?

How many of us have seen the film Medicine Man starring Sean Connery and Lorraine Bracco where Connery's character finds a cure for cancer and loses it?

A little over two years ago I lost a cousin to melanoma. She died about nine months after she was diagnosed, the positioning and size of the tumor made surgery to try and remove it close to impossible.

During this time I started reading a book a friend let me borrow that I never got a chance to finish. The book was about the vitamin B17 and a drug made from it called laetrile. In the book I remember reading something about cancer being non-existent in peoples who have diets in foods that contain this vitamin.

Laetrile is banned by the FDA in the US but is used in many countries as a cancer treatment. Admittedly, I don't know a lot about it. The proponents of laetrile say that the FDA and pharmaceutical companies won't allow laetrile to be used in the US because of the millions (maybe billions) of dollars that are made from the current drugs used to fight cancer. The FDA and others call laetrile quackery and say that it is a farce. As a result it's hard to find unbiased information.

I was wondering if any of you have heard of this and know anything about it?

at first, man looked for cures to sickness, now we know how to keep him that way.

health care is big busniess they want you to stay sick.
i remember when my mother had cancer i looked that up.
you can get it south of the border.

somepeople it helps, but if i remember reading right, it helped srink the size of tumor, but once the person stopped taking it, the tumor went back to growing again,,and the side effects were very bad.

Of course they don't REALLY want to find a cure for cancer, it would stop their CASH COW. That is why I will NEVER give a penny to any cancer group and I have had cancer. Pretty sickening isn't it?

Everytime I hear someone say this, or read it, I am amazed that someone can actually believe it.
I worked as an Oncology Nurse until I burned out. I lost too many friends (AKA patients) and I couldn't handle it anymore.
We did/do have patients survive and even be cured of their cancers. Not enough of them. It's never enough. I lost my father to cancer.

The current theory on how cancer happens is that a normal mutates (changes) and the body's immune system fails to recognize it as something that needs to killed. The biggest problem is that an immune system that fails once is likely to fail again. A person who survives the first cancer is at a very high risk to develop a second cancer. So a cure would actually benefit the evil doctors and drug companies when the patient came back for treatment of the second cancer.

As for the drug companies, they will actually make more money off of suvivors of cancer. Think about it, they make some money off of the chemo treatment for just a short time, but they can make more money off a longterm condition such as high cholesterol over 20 or 40 years.

I have been involved in drug studies for chemo medications. The paperwork, schedules, testing, and documentation required is incredible and very expensive. It is paid by the drug company and ultimately the consumer. It takes years for a new medication to make a profit for the drug company - and we aren't even talking about the expense of the drugs that fail to make it to the market.

As for donating money, it is your money to do with as you please. With any donation, you need to be aware of how much money goes toward overhead and how much actually goes where you intend it to go.
