I don't know how I missed your thread, CFI, but I'm glad to hear that your Mom's surgery went well and that she's doing okay. I will be keeping y'all in my thoughts & prayers.

Thank you Ladies

I forgot what this was like. I turned the phone off when I slept from 3-6:30 and it was ringing non-stop. My Aunt forgot to call her kids.
Don't aks me why. Then from 7-8pm everyone and their mother called.

I am going back down tomorrow around 11ish for a few hours.

The joys of hospitals. She is doing pretty good. Very cranky cause they keep waking her every 2 hours to take vitals. Apparently the morphine drip wasn't on from 1:30pm yesterday till this morning. She also was running a fever until the cardiologist turned the machine on. I wonder if they are connected.

I stayed with her a few hours today. She can't have solid foods until she passes gas. Right now she is belching but they said that's how it starts.
She walked around a bit today too. We are still looking at a 5-7 day stay.

OH all she keeps asking for is coffee. Hopefully tomorrow she can start a liquid diet. Poor mom is going through nicotine and caffeine w/d.

Thanks for the vibes!

I talked to Mom early today. She is still running a fever at night. Today she is allowed to have Ginger Ale. Poor thing hates it like me, it makes us sick.
Anyway they are still waiting for her to pass gas. She did walk up/down 3 steps today. The therapist was expecting her to do 1 only. They also took the drainage tube out. No news on when she gets to come home though. I will be up there tomorrow to visit.

Now isn't that strange because they usually say ginger helps stop sickness

She's a lady Michelle, that's why she hasn't done it yet
I hope she fluffs soon though so she can start eating properly

Mom called after I put an update up. LoL I tried calling her so I didn't have to post twice. She lied and said she passed gas hoping to get coffee. Instead she is on a liquid diet with no dairy or coffee. She is able to drink tea though.

She is off the morphine, antibiotics & catheter. They are moving her to the Orthopedic floor sometime tonight. I just knew she was on the wrong floor. Apparently it was full and she was on the general floor. I am so happy cause I wasn't fond of the nurses. You can tell they have too much time on their hands.

Mom might be coming home tomorrow!
We saw her today and she looks great. Only problem is no gas. She had a X-Ray tonight but I haven't heard back on the results. She must be sleeping. She is very agitated and goofy at the same time. It's going to be a fun 3 months there. I kinda hope they keep her until monday. LOL

She's home!!!!!
Boy do I miss the peace and quiet of the house when she was gone. LMAO.
The meds are messing with her taste buds so she is making faces at everything we give her. She still hasn't had a bowl movement. Tomorrow we have to pick up some fiber for her.

The incision for the drainage tube is irrated and she is on Sulfa antibiotic. Just makes me laugh cause it's the one drug I am allergic too and the 2nd time this month someone in the house had to take it.

She is in pain but happy to be in her own bed. Her walked barely makes it around upstairs. This should be interesting.

Thanks for all the vibes/thoughts/prayers.
