Nanuk is overweight (not my doing had him about a week and a half now), and is a DLH with crazy hairy paws. He is 7 and due to his weight seems like the hardwood floors give him trouble.
He moves gingerly across the floor, and really hesitates when jumping up or off of something. I am thinking trimming the hair in between his pads would help give him more confidence and traction while moving.
Has anyone trimmed the pad hair on their cats feet? Or am i asking for trouble?

I think it's his weight and NOT his paw fur that is the problem. In fact, if you trim his paw fur, that may put more pressure on his feet that he isn't used to having, and his feet could become sore from walking on paw pads that USED to be covered with a fur fluff.

I have two longhairs, and I wouldn't DREAM of cutting their paw fluffies unless they had something stuck to it that couldn't be removed any other way.

I would honestly leave his paw fur alone and focus on caring for his joints until you can get his weight down.
