Our cat was diagnosed with crystals in his urine last summer and they put him on Hillâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]s prescription diet R/D and told us not to feed him anything else. The reason they put him on R/D is because he went from 9 pounds to 14 pounds over a year. The thing is that heâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]s a Maine Coon so of course heâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]s going to get bigger than other breeds of cats. We feed him a quarter cup of kibble in the morning and a quarter cup after work and then give him a small spoon of canned prescription diet in the evening and give him a few kibbles here and there as treats. He seems hungry all the time and is always begging for food. Are we not feeding him enough? Also, it seems wrong to only feed him one type of food and not give him any variety. The prescription diet did take care of the crystals problem. Weâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]d like to be able to give him a variety of treats once in a while though. He is maintaining his weight on the diet we have him on now.

DUE to him being on a RX diet you need to consult with your vet

Some cats live their entire lives on one food while others want a rotation

Yes I'd recontact the vet and explain the situation. MC's are big cats - males should be weighing 14-18 lbs when grown. How old is he now?
