Our cat usually enjoys going for a walk with me in the afternoon (he's trained to a leash and wears a dog harness, which the neighbors find hysterical). Yesterday afternoon he didn't want to go out. I coaxed him, and he finally went out for about 15 minutes at 5:00 p.m., but seemed nervous, so I took him back inside. Yesterday evening we had an earthquake (5.7 on the Richter scale, epicenter in Alsaace, France). Now I'm wondering if he sensed it was coming, because he stuck really close to me throughout the early evening. It wasn't particularly "earthshaking", but definitely enough to unsettle a person or animal. What do you think?

I definitely believe that cats and other animals sense these types of things when we cannot.

Could verry well be so. Animals can be so amazing. I still find it ponderous that a blood hound can follow a cars trail down the road for 50 miles based on sent.(i saw the story on tv) Incredible. And i think my Binky is phychic. She is allways right at the door when i come home. I live in a huge appt. building with people coming and going all day long. How does she know its me. I thought she might know my foot steps and the jingle of my keys. So i go real quite and tip toe to my door, to try and suprize her. She is still right there. She knows its me. I guess you just cant sneak up on a cat!

Oh yes, I think they can! They can sense when a storm is coming long before we can, too.
