For the longest time our shelter only got in black and white kittens. Then during the holidays all we got in were black kittens. Now, almost every kitten we get is a Calico. Has other people who work in shelters noticed this? Or do you have your own trends?

I worked at a shelter for a couple years. It always seemed like we would go in cycles. Sometimes all tabbies, or all calicos, or all black cats. And invariably everyone wanted a color we didn't have.
I LOVE CALICO'S!!
When I worked for the shelter we always had things like that happen. Like one summer we had over 100 kittens dropped off in one week... over 80 of them were male red tabbies!
We always have a lot of black and black/white cats
We did have a lot of torti kittens this past year though.
