I use Tidy Cat`s Scoopable Crystal Blend.
Right now we live in a home with a septic tank, so have to haul all the "KITTY-SHI***" away in the trash....but we are soon going to move to an apt building that has a public waste system....will I be able to flush the clumps, or still have to haul it away?

From what I understand, litter should not be flushed down the toilet. It tends to clog up the pipes after awhile, and cat feces can contain the protozoan Toxoplasma gondii that has been blamed for contributing to the death of certain ocean life such as otters. A bill was passed (or at least was introduced) in California which forced litter manufacturers to put a warning label on their products, stating that the flushing of cat litter will lead to sea otter deaths.

Even Tidy Cats' website says "Do not flush (even flushable litter can harm plumbing), and do not use litter as fertilizer. It will attract flies and other cats."

When litter is disposed of with the rest of the household trash, it winds up at a landfill. Presumably, the landfill "processes" it to eliminate environmental contamination. Maybe it's not the most ideal approach, but to me it sounds better than flushing.
