Hi,

I downloaded some AVI files that are supposed to be video files (and in "properties" it says they're video) but when I play them, all I get is sound.
I have lots of other AVI files that play properly. But is it still possible that I am missing some sort of plug-in for Windows Media Player? (maybe these were encoded differently?)
Or does it just mean that they're bad files?

Sounds as if it's to do with the encoding, audio but no video is a common one. Tbh, I have found that windows media player is next to useless when it comes to being able to play different formats of files and I often have this problem with it - we usually use a free downloadable media player called VLC as it's able to handle a wider range of file types.
