Hey guys,
We have a 3 months old Maine Coon kitten in the house and she keeps getting litter stuck in her fluffy fur. I was wondering if anyone knows of any good litters that will work with an automatic litterbox (Littermaid) and won't stick as much to the long fluffy fur?

Hmm..what brand are you using now?

TidyCats is more like little round balls instead of the regular "cat litter". I would imagine it wouldn't get stuck as easily.

Persi has very long hair and does not have this problem. We use the house brand from Petco.

World's Best Cat Litter. It is made from corn, and IF it gets stuck on the cat's fur, it can be licked off (and ingested) by the cat without causing any internal harm.

I use Tidy Cats and while it does her stuck in Wickett's paws the only time it gets in his fur is if he rolls on the floor before I have a chance to vaccume.

Right now we're using Nature's Miracle litter.

Maybe the "crystal litter"? I know several breeders that use that at the shows and the cats like it - a lot of them are longhair breeders too.

I've never tried the crystal - heard good and bad. We use Feline Pine (Petco's equivalant) but it breaks down to sawdust and that might still get in the MC's fur.

I use the tidy cats with the blue label and i have a 15# maine coon mix and never have any problems with it sticking.
Perhaps his weekly brushings with the furminator help to cut back on tanglie fur that could catch the litter, but his hairy paws are always clean <and he's a grooming slacker>

We have Maine Coons and use World's Best. It only seems to stick if it gets wet - and if that happens anywhere other than on their paws, it's a clue for me to trim their back end a bit!

I don't have any experience of other litters, or automatic litter boxes, but IMO it's not a problem with WBCL.

Enjoy your kitten!
