Why is it that I spend 10 minutes cleaning the litter box every day (scooping and then vacuuming the floor in the bathroom) and as soon as I'm done, Pepper decides that she has to use it, RIGHT THEN even though she spent all day in the bathroom while we were at work... lol. I hate stepping on litter barefoot so I always have to do it again.

It must be something about the smell/feel of clean litterboxes that attracts them, because mine do it too!

Snickers does the same thing. Actually, I just cleaned her litter box and little while ago and while it was soaking in the sink I opened a new bad of litter into my big plastic tub. I left the lid off and I walked back in there and snickers was in this huge tub of litter scratching around like she had to go to the bathroom. I was like, you had all day to use it and as soon as I clean you all of a sudden have to go! Ugh! Oh well!

Dary must be related. As soon as I take the cover off the litter box and start moving litter around with the scooper, Darcie decides that she HAS to go RIGHT NOW so I have to sit there and wait for her to do her business before I resume scooping.

Blossom's the same. After I've aired the litter box outside after emptying, I bring the box back inside & she gets in even before I have a chance to put new litter in.

haha right after? You're lucky, mine use it while Im cleaning it! And its not like they can hold it, they act like if they dont get to go right then that its going to be the end of the world! So I clean it out, they get in there, I clean it out again, and they get in there! The other day I had Hobo and Eek in there at the same time as I was trying to clean it, and I noticed Eek has a shy bladder! He was trying so hard, but couldn't do it with me in his face, as soon as I took a step back, you could Sppppssss!! I was like, alright, thats one I havn't seen before!

My cats do it while I'm cleaning the litter boxes, after they are cleaned, and if we have the litter with the open top and the lid is off, one of my cats tries to go there!

Oh, yes. Typical Kit move.

Except, when he's done his business in the new litter (& after I've scooped out the new mess!), he lays in it.

Um... ew?

Guess he likes the feeling of clean litter.

I had a payback moment last night.

I didn't realize that anyone was in the litter box - I sat to clean it, pulled it toward me and yanked the cover off, and there was a VERY surprized Penny, just finishing up a poop.

She was SO shocked that she didn't even try to cover it - she just looked freaked out, and ran for it!

Ha-HA! Take THAT, little kitteh!

Now she knows what it felt like for me to be in the bathroom and have a kitty just BANG the door open on me!

My 2 new kittens are very good about the using the litterbox. They bury it so deep, that it seems like a treasure hunt to scoop it. But we scoop 2 or 3 times a day because the little girls are good peers... lol

But as soon as the box is clean, it is time to use it again... I think kitties just gravitate to a clean box

You sound like you have a very normal and well adjusted cat! I think the answer is that cats like to have as clean a facility as possible when they want to use it. You and I think the same way. I am sure they do not do it to annoy you!
