My Dad just sent me this. Excuse his spelling errors, he is 89 years old and age is catching up to him. But all I can say is "You GO Daddy!"

A few days ago, an article appeared in your newspaper titled "Buy a dog" My rebual to this.
Nothing like a cat that has been properly trained: I have a cat, called Boots, I found him while I was out walking years ago, he was a small Kitten, so I brought him home and I trrained Boots very well.
Boots knowss where his food is and when he wants to be fed he goes and sits in front of the cabinet, where it is, and stares at the cubard door steadily. (I taught him this) Boots eats a cat food called Fancy Feast, it has several varieties of cat food. If Boots does not want this variety, he will just sit and look at his dish, thereby I know that he wants another variety of food. ( I taught him this).
When Boots wants outdoors, he will sit in front of the door and stareat the door and stare at the door, and occasionally stare up at the door knob. (I tauaght im this) We have our afterrnnon meal about 2 PM and where I sit at the table there is a sliding glass door to the back porch. Now Bootss knows when we eat and he is always promt in showing up (I taught him to be prompt) So he sits there and stares at me with a fixed stare I know that he wants me to bring him something, of what I am eating . So I take him something and place it on the back porch.
At night Boots wants a midnite snack and I taught him to wake me up between the hours of one to four AM and he is good at keeping this time. so he will hop upon the head-board and mews untill I wake up
if, by chance, I don't wake up then boots (Has been trrained) to jump on my chest or back and walk up and down till I wake up.
One thing I didn't teach Boots, If in the Morning my wife walks into teh kitchen Dressed up (not in her robe) Then Boots figures that we are going someplace and Boots will then figure that it might be the Vets, (Boots hates the Vet) so he scoots off and hides under the bed And it take alot of cusssing and work to get him out.
Anyway, there is nothing like a well trainesd cat.
Dog lovers should take note you don't allways have an animal under your feet.

I do think he has it backwards though! Sounds to me like Boots trained HIM! There will be a portrait of this spoiled cat soon on an artist's site. I ordered a portrait for my dad for their anniversary and the artist asked him if she could put it on her website.
I will let you know when it appears so you can see this lucky kitty.

Boots is 4 years old. I hope he has a long long life, because if anything ever happens to him, it will destroy my father, he loves that cat so much! Boots is a long hair black and white spoiled love.

that reminds me of my poppa - a stray cat walked into their house, and adopted my grandparents and never left. my poppa was a cat hater, until ratty came along. just last week, ratty had to be put to sleep because he had cancer and poppa was quite upset. its amazing how a cat can change ones views on them!
