Ever since we went live with SAP things are crazy around here. Today is one of those days that I'm geting super frustrated with the guys I work with. There have been several issues I've gone round and round with people on. No one wants to answer my questions. To me they seem like straight forward questions about where things are bought from and how much they are costing us. They all say I don't know, ask so and so.
I'm doing all of the data entry on this system all I'm asking for a is a little help obtaining the information. Every time I open and e-mail that says I don't know this is exactly what I want to do
I'm currently debating how to go about this, I have two choices e-mail them directly telling them I'm not a mind reader and need their help, or go directly to the plant manager. Normally I would just let it slide or just go to them directly, but this has been going on since November. I'm not trying to be annoying, I'm just trying to do my job.

I am so sorry you're dealing with a new implementation of SAP. Purdue is going through that right now, with the financial aid portion (Banner) going live next month. I can't pretend to know what you're dealing with (my only use of SAP right now is looking at my pay stubs), but I hope it starts looking up soon.

Asking ?s and not getting a decent straight answer is very frustrating. Since you've already tried to deal with directly for so long, I would go ahead and get the answers you need to do your job from the plant manager....

Have you tried saying to them "I need a straight answer, and if you don't have it, I will go the plant manager"?

How frustrating!
I don't know how employers expect people to do their jobs when they don't give them the tools or people to help them!

Well, I have implemented lots of computer systems for clients and I was employee 65 at PeopleSoft, so I have been through the implementation problems many times.
Some questions for you:
- Did your company have an SAP or other consultant helping in the implementation process? They may have written down the answers to your questions in their documentation. Ask the plant manager to ask the IT director about that.
- If you are asking about product costs, somewhere there is a cost accounting system, either manual or computerized, that you could use for data entry. The plant mgr might know, but I bet that there are cost accountants at your place that have that info at their fingertips.

I have other suggestions, but I will probably bore everyone else, so feel free to PM me.

Thanks everyone. I did find someone who got me the answer. I hate bugging him all the time because he's busy, but he is so nice that I know if I ask him I'll get the answer I'm looking for. I'm just frustrated because I've had this problem since go-live. Unfortunately we are a small plant and have gotten away with people having the knowledge in their head for years. The problem is we've had high turn over in the last couple years, so a lot of knowledge has left with people.
