Hello everyone
Im a newbie here, and have a genetics question
Is it possible to breed a cat - white - through the white spotting factor or the W gene, with black tabby points?
Katsy
Well first there is no "black tabby" - its technically a brown tabby. And I think it could just be a brown or seal tabby point on a white body. So IMO its a pointed cat - not a white one.
The white spotting gene could create white paws or white patches, but not cover the entire cat. And are you talking about just brown tabby on the legs and not on the face/tail? That could be possible where the cat is pointed normally but the white spotting gene has masked the color on the head and tail leaving the legs pointed with the tabby markings.
