Alright. My family adopted a stray cat about two and a half months ago. At the time she seemed pregnant. She had quite the appetite and she was very friendly and sometimes her nipples seemed a bit hard...but then she began to lose weight and this week she went into heat! (Her nipples probably got like that because of how cold it is now.) But...yesterday when she came home she wasn't in heat anymore. The other cats haven't been happy with her since she went into heat, probably because they're fixed and she's not. They're still not very happy with her and she was more playful than normal. She would sit out in the hallway and flop around playing with her tail. There's at least two toms in our area...so...I'm wondering if she mated between last night and the day before. Is there a chance that she might be pregnant now? And how long does it take for the kittens to develop? I really would love to let her have the kittens and we need to get her in to the vet soon to get her fixed...but I don't want to force her out of pregnancy, even if it's just in the small stages.
Help mee?

If she was allowed outside not spayed, with roaming tom cats, then there is a very good chance she is pregnant.

I really would make an appointment with the vet, just for a general health exam judging on some of the other symptoms you have described she had previously. If she is not pregnant, then she could be vaccinated and spayed.

Welcome to TheCatSite.

For your kitty's health, she needs to be checked by your vet right away and spayed asap.
Let us know how she is doing.

Most cats give birth approximately 60-68 days after conception - roughly 9 weeks later from mating.

Why did you allow her outside when she was in heat and not spayed? You will be able to tell if she is pregnant 3 weeks after mating when the nipples get pinker. If you don't want to spay her now (which would be the better choice) and allow her to have kittens, you are looking at keeping the kittens for about 12 weeks before rehoming them and having them spayed and neutered before leaving.

That's the responsible thing to do - that way you won't be bringing more kittens in the world that will reproduce. And you HAVE to keep the cat inside after she has kittens cause she can get pregnant while nursing.

Also be prepared financially if she needs a c-section or any other complications. I'd spay her now to avoid a lot more expenses.

100% agreed with all advice given above.
I also have to ask WHY you would let her outside intentionally when she was in heat?? I HOPE she isn't pregnant!
