Has anyone out there ever tried Hill's R/D (reduced diet) food for the kitties to lose weight? If so, did it work well and did your cats like the food? My vet told me this morning that she thinks it doesn't taste good because most people bring the bag back and say their cat stopped eating it.

IMHO, putting your cat on a quality wet food diet will help kitty lose weight better than anything else.

I mentioned wet food to my vet this a.m. and she recommended against it because of tartar buildup.

Would you, personally, consider Hill's foods to be "quality" foods?

Well, my purr-sonal opinion on R/D

Just feed your kitty a sack of corn. That's all it is.

That said, wet food doesn't harm teeth. Dry food doesn't help clean teeth(Cats swallow something like 70% of their food whole). Wet food helps loose weight & is good for urinary health.

IMO, wet food is the way to go.

wet food is best but the R/D is a weight control food ... ask the vet what % of protein , fat and total calories he/she wants kitty to have....
