Hey all
,

I'm hoping to get some help. I have a 13 year old persian, Baby, who has recently developed some bad behavior. he's found a corner in my bedroom under a window and also in front of the front door to poop. also yesterday he coughed up a hairball on the couch. he's done none of this before and am wondering where i might start to fix this. he's even gotten a little standoffish w/me. any insights?

Not using the litter box like he should is probably a sign that something is physically wrong with him. I would take him to the vet.

Small behavioural changes are often the first sign of ill health - so I'd get him checked out by the vet. He's a middle aged cat now, and ought to be checked out for common ailments in cats of his age - diabetes, thyroid problems, urinary tract & kidney problems etc - if caught early these are manageable conditions. I'd be a bit concerned that if he's not his usual friendly self and is having litter box issues that he may be in some discomfort.
