Beauty has panicked once when I was asleep. She was downstairs and I was upstairs. She must have thought we'd all gone off somewhere without her because she meowed really distressed up the stairs.

Have anyone else's cats done something similar?

My Smokey used to meow in the middle of the night all the time. I always thought she was just looking for me. Towards the end of her life the crying at night increased. Her eye sight had started to go. She would cry out and I would say "Momma's right here baby" and she would stop cyring and go back to sleep.

Not YET. I am wondering how the cats are going to cope with the new 3 floor townhome we are moving into. Two winding flights of stairs.

The only time Squishy has freaked was last week we had some real bad wind and the power went out and was out for about 6 hour.. we live on the third floor(also the top floor). The wind was gusting prolly 50 - 60 mph and it was shaking the top floor and making the roof creak. You could hear wind whistling thru all the vents and you could hear it pushing the windows. Well we live across the street from an air force base and they use it for incoming warehouse traffic so there are always planes taking off but when the power is on you cant hear the planes and for some stupid the air traffic was normal even tho there was no power on the runway except backup power and even tho the wind was horrid. anyhow Squishy soooooo did not like all the little noises she heard. She wouldnt sit still. I finally stole the batteries out of two battery powered lights and put them in my radio and turned some music on and layed down on the bed with her after about 20 minutes she calmed down i turned the music off, and even tho you the wind had not died down yet she still was calm and laid down beside me in bed and went to sleep. Just a little music cures everything...

Abby does that all of the time! She likes to be in the same room as I am and if she wakes up and I'm not there she goes and gets her rolled up socks and carries them around while meowing frantically looking for me
I have to call her and she eventually finds me and then jumps up for a cuddle. Sometimes she will leave a perfectly good snuggle session to go into the other room and find her rolled up socks. Then she will carry them around meowing frantically. It's like she forgets where I am

I always know when she is bringing me the socks though, hehe

Sometimes Chynna will be asleep on the couch or the bed and she will lift her head up suddenly and look around with big huge eyes and give a few meows. I guess she just checks to make sure that I'm still there.

It's so cute when they do that though.
