We are hooked on this show, DW and I. But why the #@&*$ does BBC America have to bleep every #$@&* thing? I will ask our English friends here this but know the answer: Are there any beeps during this show in the UK? I wonder what it would be like to watch it the way it was intended to be watched. (I hope this is not an IMO post, let me go back and change the wording so I am not giving an opinion.)

Nope, its is as nature/catherine tate intended. Particularly the Nan and her grandson scenes.

i can't watch her as a straight actor now though, like the Dr Who christmas special, its just too weird, I keep expecting her to say 'I ain't bovvered!'

We don't tend to bleep out swear words on TV, either it is intended for family viewing before 9pm and won't have any severe* swearing in the first place, or it is scheduled after 9pm after which parents letting their kids watch TV (or sensitive people) do so at their own risk.

*I do note that a lot of words that would raise an eyebrow on here or get auto-censored are not really considered that serious or offensive in the UK in the first place - I think with the exception of a few terms which are considered offensive, we are a bit more relaxed about the issue, generally speaking.

I could not have put it better myself Epona. I dont mean this in a nasty way but I think that in America they seem more sensitive to these things. I cannot understand that you have your fare share of violence and street crimes etc, yet the tv companys beep out all the swear words. What is all that about? IMO its the next best thing to being dictaded to. A lot of these tv shows like any other nowadays, is based on real life scenarios, so there is no point in editing it out. To be honest all us brits swear a lot anyway, my parents and their generation did not though. I have heard it come from all walks of life including a Duke and Duchess, its no big deal.

I thought I would refresh this post.

First of all, according to my almanac, New Zealand has about 3 million population. Note that I did say about. It also says the US has about 300 million. This would mean to me that the US has about one hundred times the population of New Zealand. Which would mean that 100 times as many people in the US should watch Catherine Tate as in New Zealand. But there must be something fundamentally wrong with my math. So I am going to just forget that portion of the reason I have refreshed this.

When I originally posted this I had seen the program 3-4 times, not sure. But I determined one thing: If I did not know who the person was that I was looking at, then it must be Catherine Tate. I announced this to DW who told me that my powers of preception never failed to amaze and astound her.

Tonight I am alone in front of the TV. Nobody to help me out. I have watched the 4th or 5th episode of Catherine Tate and the most amazing thing occurs to me. OK women, go ahead and have a good laugh on me! I see this little "man" in a dark suit with a completely shaved bald head and rectangular glasses that speaks in a very high "gay" voice and it suddenly strikes me OMG, this is Catherine Tate, too. Now I suppose all of you regular watchers find this very amusing. But I found it so funny I thought I would fess up to having missed this before.

I have lived a couple of years in the UK and most of my life in the US and my repertoire goes a little beyond just Monty Python, Are you being Served, and Keeping up Appearances, but I must say this is the greatest English show of them all. No wait, the greatest show.......period. I just wish I could watch it without all the bleeping bleeps.

Hope you all got a good laugh over this. It is what I intended. I just cannot believe I did not catch on to this last week!
