I did not want to hijack the other thread about throwing up but my story is very similar. A few weeks ago Raven was throwing up all the time and it looked like she had not chewed her food at all (nutro natural choice indoor kitten).
She continued throwing up here and there.
Then she threw up one day and there was what looked like a spagetti noodle in it (that long even), at first I thought that was what had been making her throw up and then I noticed a shorter noodle that was moving, worms ICK!
So I bought some wormer from petco and wormed them both. I have not seen any worms since and Raven only threw up one time (and I think that was because she had tried eating something she should not have).
I ALSO started mixing Nutro Max cat kitten food in with the Nutro NC kitten because the pieces are huge and I thought that would encourage her to chew her food better.
Well, last night in the night Jack started making a funny little sound, it sounded like a reverse sneeze in a pug.
Any ideas?

PS- I know that I am going to get the responses that I should have brought the cats to the vet re: worms but I DO NOT have the money right now.

did you have any immediate thoughts pop in your head about it though?
I have called all the vets in town (and nearby surrounding towns that have vets) and they ALL require payment up front and we just do not have it.
We even have to pay a late fee because we paid our rent a day late, we are behind on all our bills, my husband is out of town on a business trip and he has to pay out of ocket (he gets reimbursed but that takes a while).

Round Worms, you can treat them with Pyrantel Palomate, liquid wormer. Some stores carry it under other names, look at the ingridient list or you can get it from your vet. Very inexpensive, we get a 50 ml bottle, whish is a pint I believe from our vet for $25. (we have a crew here
) The strength is stronger than what you can buy at the store which makes it easier to administer.

The reverse coughing is the eggs from their respitory tract, they then swallow them and a new batch grows into adult worms (which you saw).

We just had a heck of a time with them here. Finally, the cats and dogs are clear. You need to reworm within 10-14 days after the first dose. Sometimes a third time. Scoop boxes twice daily and once a weeks remove litter and clean boxes with bleach, rinse well and refill.

I'm not a vet, lol but very familiar with what you are describing and can also relate to the money factor.

Those are roundworms. When I worked at the shelter we treated those with Panacur or Strongid. You're going to have to get a wormer from the vet.

Perhaps if you can actually talk to the vet (not receptionist) they may be able to give you the wormer (just a charge for wormer, not a vet visit) because you actually saw the worms and know they have worms.

Here in Wilmington, NC we have PetSmart. You probably do to at your town. But the Animal Hospital called Banfield inside the store doesn't charge you a office visit if you go on Tues & Thurs between 10 am and 2 pm. That might just be our particular store but it's worth calling your local PetSmart and asking. Hopes this helps.

this is more what I was thinking.. sometimes the vet can give you meds without a office call

we only have a petco.
When I have called the vet offices I only asked if they had payment plans (all said no) not if they could do anything for me over the phone.
