Anyone familiar with Burns Health Pet Food? I received some sample from this company along with a brochure. One thing which confused me was their claim of a Low Protein Low Carb diet for cats. I've always thought that a high protein diet is essential for carnivores like cats.

According to the brochure, a high protein diet leads to overgrowth in the skeletal structure, resulting in various joint problems such as athritis.

Any comments would be much appreciated.

I would be very very wary .... low protein and low carb = HIGH HIGH fat diet ....

cats needs protein yes many drs think cats no longer need alot of high protein meats but that is debateable ... most still agree higher protein than a dog ( which dogs ideally should have 25-35%) with lower carbs than a dog .... the vet journal most vets learned from NOTES: dogs and cats have NO known NEED for carbs ..

Thanks sharky! I am very hesitant to incorporate this new approach to my kitten's diet but she seems to really enjoy the kibble. I just sprinkle a little on top of her regular dry and she gobbled up every one of them.

Maybe it's good as a supplement feeding, just to give her some variety.
