Some of you may remember we adopted two shelter cats a week before x-mas. Chip we knew was sick from the begining with a runny nose, which the shelter director said was chronic. Since being with us his tempermant has improved until recenetly.

Until about two weeks ago he was on antibiodics for an upper respitory infection. About a week after the antibiotics ended his runny nose came back and we also noticed he has worms. My H took him to the vet yesterday and they gave us Profender and two prescription, human ones for Herpes and Clymidia. Which we will start tomorrow.

My H told me tonight that when Chip was weighed he was almost two pounds thinner. He went from about 9lbs to 7lbs and we have only had him for about two weeks. I am pretty distraught about this.

Do you think this is due to the worms?

The doctor hopes with these three new medicines he should be okay, but I am worried and could use some info/advice.

Thank you for your time.

I have heard of them losing weight when they have worms, and with him just being on the URI meds that could have made him sick to his stomach so he lost weight too! I hope he gets better!

I am really worried about him being dehydrated. My H did not say anything about the vet mentioning it, but it might be something that was not addressed when he was there. He is eating his dry food, just not very much but I have not seen him drink any water since I have been home for over three hours. I am really worried about that.
