what is an average kitten's sleep pattern like?

our new kitten is about three months old.
i can't remember how much our cats used to sleep when they were this age so....
how much of the day are they supposed to spend asleep?

the thing is that the first two days we had her, she was racing around, then she sprained her paw, since she sprained it she has been less active...

now the sprain was a very mild sprain she was ok again the next day...

but she is markably less active than she was on the first two days.

could it be that the first two days she was racing around because all of sudden she had all this space? (she came from the pound)

is it a warning sign that she is coming down with something?
could it be that she's just resting her paw?

she's eating. she's drinking. no sneezing. no runny eyes or nose. no diarrhea...

we've just had one kitten not survive cat flu so i am hyper paranoid about this kitten... I don't know if the fact that she is sleeping a lot and is not as active as she was a few days ago is reason enough to take her to the vet.... is it?

well she's due for her shots on thursday...

in the mean time... how much should she be sleeping?

There's no real sleep pattern for all kitty's. I have had kittens who only took power naps, and some that slept most of the day away. Of course, I only knew if they were up in the middle of the night if they pounced on me..lol. I think you have the right idea. Just keep an eye on her eating,drinking,potty habits,hair coat, and her alertnes when she's awake. It is not out of the ordinary for them to sleep alot. Also, It would be my guess that she's comfie in her new surroundings now, and the excitement, and the hurt paw has slowed her down a bit.

Ours will sometimes play almost nonstop for a day or 2, then sleep a lot the day after. I bet yours just wore herself out with excitement and fun and a lot more running than she has ever done. She might be growing too. Just keep a close watch and enjoy.
