Hi! So I am pretty sure that Snow has a hairball and has been trying to cough it up for about a week now.. Usually I would give her some butter to help her cough it up, but since shhe has diarrhea now, I don't want to do that and make her diarrhea worse.. Basically I don't want to introduce any new food or hairball remedies b/c I'm afraid it might negaviely affect her and make the diarrhea worse.. In the month I've had her she has never coughed up a hairball (she's longhaired) but she might have passed it in her stool. She sounded really bad this morning trying to hack it up, or hacking in general.. But is it okay for me to just let "nature take it's course".. She should eventually pass it somehow right?? Are hairballs in cats a "natural" thing or is this hairball really bad for her health??

Over a week I would be calling the vet.... Kandie often had them come out in her stool but it was obvious

I do not think hairballs are a natural thing, even in longhairs if you comb them enough. Click on the left picture by my user name and you will see Persi, a cat with very long hair that has never had a hairball. He is always licking himself but I keep him combed (not brushed) so often that I don't think he will ever have a problem.
