Hillary in Las Vegas & on immigration - Page 3

post #61 of 69
Just a thought, for whatever it's worth: Do you think it's possible...

*that the reason the illegals are willing to do those jobs (whatever they are) is that they will take WHATEVER job is available, regardless of conditions or pay, just to HAVE a job;
*that your own citizens won't take those jobs, as it is, because they know they can do better, and won't take such lousy conditions and pay;
*that if there weren't illegals to do the jobs, those employers would have to pay more, provide better conditions, in order to get people to take the jobs;
*that if those employers were penalized for employing illegals, there might be sufficient $$ incentive to pay your own citizens a passable wage to do those jobs...

as I said, just a thought.

You are right on target. The status quo isn't really helping the illegals out. It is keeping them in a type of slavery.

You're right on all counts. The resistance is from the employers who like the situation as it is. And from people who feel that we cannot assimilate all the immigrants -- - legal and illegal -- that we already have. There are financial and cultural problems assimilating everyone.

As I posted in another thread, here in Arizona the employer sanctions law went into effect January 1. Some Illegals are self-deporting.

Ours here in OK have been challenged a few times in court, but nothing sticks yet.
