If you want to waste money get one. IMO they are nice but not necessary. And if they wind up leaking or something, then its another expense you will have.

I don't think they are worth the extra money.

Well I just talked to my Uncle. I still have a couple decisions to make. First, is the color. I thought I knew what color I wanted, but he said I need to check it out in the day light because apparently it looks very differnt in the day light. Second is to decide on the moon roof. Apparently it will cost me about an extra $14 a month. So hopefully by the end of the week next week I'll have my new car.

I used to work at a body shop/collision center and would see many people come in with them because of leaks or other problems. They are okay if you don't plan on keeping the car forever, or are going to have a nice extended warranty.

Just be prepared that they break and are very expensive to fix. I remember people coming in all the time, even with newer cars that had no warranty on them that would cost well over $500 to get them fixed. One time a guy with a newer Monte Carlo came in with one and the wiring went bad and he had no extended warranty - just to replace it - over $2,000

They are nice, yes, but I don't think I'd want to put up with the hassle of them
same here... i've heard they can leak. sorta the same reason i wouldn't get a rag-top or any other convertible - just one more thing to go wrong with the car!

Oooo I like the M3s too!!!!! I would DEFINITELY get the moon roof!!!! I have one in my car and I even open it sometimes in the winter!

I like the extra light, and the feeling of a convertable without the dangerousness!!!!

PS. My car is 8 years old now and I've never had a problem with leaks (jetta). I believe mazda's are pretty close to the same, same company owns and makes them? I could be wrong. And my jetta before this one was just as old and didn't leak either.

Then moonrooves would be moonsunruoof
because the moonrooves pop open AND slide back

I have no idea what the difference is....too confusing!

I have a sunroof in my current car (just bought new in July), but I also had one in my 1996 Ford Thunderbird with 126000 miles on it. Never leaked in that car, never broke and I had something wrong with the wiring in that car! I voted yes to a moonroof.

I will NEVER own a car with a moon/sun roof!!! Besides the potential for leakage, there is one thing that hasn't been mentioned here yet. Back in the day, when I took driver's ed, the local Sheriff's office came in one day and showed a Very graphic slideshow of some of the fatal car wrecks that had happened around the area. One of them involved a rollover with an open moonroof (I cannot remember if the person was buckled in or not) but that person ended up being in more than one piece.

The chances of that happening are probably slim, but they are much less if you don't have a car with a moonroof!

Shoot, I think I am too late...but I vote no for moon roof
I don't think they are cool enough to warrant extra money spent.

Nope you weren't too late to give my your opinon. I still don't have the car. My uncle wanted me to look at the color car I wanted in the day light, so I have to call him today and see what he can do about getting one for me. Of coarse the color I want is discontinued so I really hope I can still get it. My uncle was convinced I wouldn't want it, but I love it. It's purple during the day & like a wine color at night. So I'll be calling him in a couple hours to see if he can locate one, with a moon roof. So I guess I did sort of make the decision, but now I'm trying to decide how much I want the moon roof. I'm deciding if it is worth giving up the color I want. The next color I would go for would actually be a grey, but I just can't make up my mind which is more important the color or the moon roof. I'm sort of leaning towards the color. I've lived without a moon roof this long, I certainly won't die without one.
I just want my new car already. I've never owned a brand new one, and as much as I love my old Chevy, 140,000 miles is enough.

I had a moon roof and it was great until it started raining. The car I got had sat on the car lot for a while so they decided to up-grade it and put in a moon roof. Now everytime it rains I get soaked because the water pours down onto my lap. And my butt if wet from the seat being soaked.
I know it was because it wasn't put in by the factory but it has ruined my love to moon roofs. I wouldn't get one personally.

My DH has one and we never use it. I really don't think it's worth it.

That's what my uncle said about after market moon roofs. He said that they are very likely to leak, but that a lot of dealerships like to put them in to help sell the cars. He's calling around for me right now. There is a purple one that has a moon roof, and a spoiler. It's more expensive so I don't know, but I'm in one of those moods that it may just be worth the extra $ to have the car look even cooler with the spoiler. Well I await his call to find out when I'm going to get this car.

I don't think a spoiler is necessarily worth it either. The last 2 cars we had with spoilers, the spoiler looked like it had a pox on it when the car was older. The paint wears differently or something than on the rest of the car. Our old Saturn (a '93) and our Pontiac (a '99) had spoilers with paint chipping off.

When we bought our new Fusion, we opted for no spoiler this time. And it's easier to wash and wax with no spoiler.

We have one on our Integra and love it. We also had one on the Prelude before this car. So I voted Yes.

I VOTE YES!!!

I have one in my car and I use it all the time. . My car has 180,000 and the sunroof has not leaked once! I love it and use it all the time. It is a nice thing to have and you will enjoy it. I also find that I use it more at night! Being that the lupus limits my sun exposure!

I would go for it!!!!
