Stringer, you broke our hearts when we found you this morning. Why couldn't you keep away from that road? It wasn't as if it was close to the house...

We'll never forget you sweetheart, I'm sorry you couldn't spend longer with us.

We've got the photos, the lovely memories but I'd give anything to have you back.

Sleep peacefully my beautiful baby kitten.

We're going to put your ashes where you liked to sleep, on the window sill where you had your makeshift basket. I miss you so much Strings.

P.S. It's very unlikely that the person responsible will read this but I would like to say thank you to whoever it was that laid our little cat on the pavement so we could find her (it was on Sheephill Lane in Clayton-le-Woods, Chorley). Thank you for taking the time to remove her body from the road and put her on a towel. It's really appreciated because we can comfort ourselves a little that at least we aren't wondering where she is. We like to think she went instantly which, due from the way she looked, seems to be the case.

Thanks for your kind words Katz4Life and bnwalker2, it's very much appreciated and really helps.

I hope I haven't stepped on any toes by coming here specifically to write about my little cat but I just needed to write it down. Helps to do it.

We'd only had her for about 8 months but we really did spoil her rotten. I'm glad we did now - she had a good, if very short, life

It's such a shame that cats can't understand roads.

Thanks again

I'm so sorry for your loss of Stringer
May she rest in peace but at the same time enjoys playing hard at the bridge with all the other kitties there.

It's also lovely to hear that there are some kind, caring people out there to lay her on something soft until she was found

Hi
Don't ever think you did anything wrong by writing about your beloved cat.

Condolences on your sad loss of Stringer
Your words were beautiful, and your thank-you esp. touching because I once did the same thing for a beautiful gray kitten that I'd driven past - it was in the wee hours of a very cold (minus 0 )morning, too late, dark & cold to turn back & place her off the roadway BUT my headlights caught the sparkles of her pink jeweled collar. She must have been from the trailer park (and I mean the poorest living quarters in our area) which meant that someone who could probably not even afford their own needs had sacrificed and bought her that expensive collar - THAT KITTEN WAS LOVED!! So, I placed her on a towel next to the road, and when I drove my daughter to school a few hours later, the kitten was gone.....I always have hoped that whoever found her realized that someone else (me) cared that they had lost such a precious baby & joined them in mourning her loss.

I am sure they knew that you cared about their little cat when they realised you had taken their cat from the road - in my case I just wish I could find that kind person to say thanks!

Well done for getting that little kitten off the road, the owners will definitely have appreciated it, I can assure you of that!

Thanks everyone - it's great to see so many caring cat-lovers

Make sure you spoil your little pets rotten. I am very glad I spoilt my baby in the short amount of time we spent together.
