Abortion case a first in China

I'm sorry, but I have lost count of all the reasons there is to revile that country and its policies. I know that's a terrible thing to say, but I can't help it.

Apparently, this case really only got this far because of the medical costs she was forced to pay. The actual circumstances surrounding the abortion itself were all just hunky-dory.

All I can think to say is "Wow! Just .... Wow!"

I'm all for pro-choice, but this was nothing short of rape! They forced an abortion on a woman who was at the end of her pregnancy term. That is rape, and it's also "murder" IMHO because that baby was completely viable and able to survive outside the womb if delivered.

Exactly. I mean, they actually had to kill the baby first - so it's definitely murder. But apparently it was all by the book. Delightful.

That is HORRID! Sooo soo sad too My heart breaks for that poor woman and the innocent child that was soo cruely murdered There are truely some cold, heartless people in this world!

Oh. No. No no no no! She had gone into labor... that's nothing short of government infanticide.

If my government tried to do that to me, they'd have to kill me first. I imagine that only demonstrates the level of brainwashing people go through. There's a minimum age to get married, at which she was going to, and somehow she was doing something illegal? Is the absolutely only option there to have an abortion if you're under 20? There are so many things wrong with what happened to this poor woman.

Talk about human rights violations.

"Pregnancy outside marriage is illegal."
If that is the case(fist i have ever saw that) since she was that far long, why not just put the kid up or send to some couple that could not have kids.

I wouldn't even go so far to say this was an "abortion". Her water broke, she was in labor, so the baby was on it's way. In my book this would be murder.

I didn't read the link but did just leanr something yesterday that's related. There is a particular religion there where their primary means of "birth control" is abortion. I realize this is different as the woman was already in labor. I just wanted to point out the oral contraceptives were just legalized there in 1996 and it was primarily to accomodate tourists/immigrants.

I'm just going to put in another comment on this. Abortion has always implied to me that there was some type of choice. To force a woman to have one against her will for any reason goes to far.

The entire argument for abortion rights - and the reason that I am such a fierce supporter of them - is that women have domain over their own reproductive systems. Forced abortion is as vile to me as forced pregnancy. This is absolutely repugnant, and the human rights abuses in that country make me sick.
