Help!! I think my daughter might be allergic to Ava!!!

My daughter has had three episodes now where she will all of the sudden start gasping for air and nothing goes in... It's almost like her throat swells up and she can't breathe.. It only lasts for a few seconds, but it is very scary... I talked to a doctor right before the third episode, and she said that it is probably just she is a little sick, but she doesn't seem sick... then she had another episode, and right before she was lying on Ava w/ her head burried in her fur.. I noticed she was itching her eyes and nose alot also... I don't know what to do.. I am so worried it is going to happen again...

I am very Allergic to Cats and was told not to have them but still do. I have Asthma and Allergies. There are Skin Tests she can have and see what she is Allergic too. There are also Shots. I used to take them and they helped alot.

That sounds like a panic attack! With anaphlaxic the throat would close up completly. Or almost at least, to the point where she would need a dr. I would definatly have the tests done, even though they're not fun to do, knowing if and what she is allergic to is a benefit! There are shots that someone with allergies to cats can have once a week to make them gradually more use to them and not so allergic! I hope all goes well with everyone... Sending Good your way!!

It could be a coincidence too. Talk to her doctor again, and see if you can get an allergy test. It could be a reaction to almost anything, or it might not be an allergy at all.

Call her doctor and tell him/her that your daughter has had a third episode.

personally i would keep her away from kitty for a bit and see if she has any more episodes. i agree, it sounds like an allergy, maybe not to the cat, could be anything. i was allergic to my own hair when i was a kid. the shots worked great for me, i am not allergic to nearly as much as i was as a kid.
