Kind of an unusual thing to say, but yes, I hope Rocket has a bladder infection. I recently became aware that he'd been spraying again. Just a few drops in each spot. But there were some other things that weren't right. He's been urinating more frequently. He's been drinking more often. He sometime doesn't fully squat and pees on the side of the box (not normal for him.) And I found a puddle of urine on the kitchen floor.
So instead of writing it off to him spraying again -- because there weren't any trigger events as far as I could tell -- he went to the vet for a urinalysis. And that came back with elevated pH (7.5) and lower specific gravity (10.17) both way off his baseline of a year and a half ago (has it been that long, really???) There were no crystals or cells in his urine, but the doc said that with that dilute urine, they'd be hard to find and so she's sending it in to be cultured. If that comes back, we have to do bloodwork, and find out why his urine's off.
The three scenarios are:
1) he has a bladder infection
2) his kidneys are failing
3) he's begun spraying again
So, you see, that's why I say that I hope Rocket has a bladder infection.
