I'm having my inlaws over for dinner on the 27th before they leave for a month long trip to Florida. She is a chicken/fish person and my father in law is a beef person.......anyone have any good suggestions for either?

First of all I wouldn't go to a great deal of trouble and expense. Something homey would be best.

Everyone likes pasta. Lasagna with a nice salad and garlic bread followed by a cheese cake or a fresh fruit salad for dessert.

Yes, I could always go Italian....but my sister in law always makes something like that when she has us over........I would like to be different and show them that I"m a versatile cook....but now I can't think of a thing that isn't boring........

Now I"m hungry for lasagna!

I think that is a good suggestion. simple homey foods are the best.

Possibly something from the crock pot. I love meals from the crock pot.

Thats a great idea, that way if they are THAT picky, they can choose what they want, or don't want!

I think Fajitas are a great idea. FIL gets beef, MIL gets chicken, everyone is happy

I wouldn't cook anything for my MIL
, but I would go with the roast beef in the crockpot and either a small chicken dish or shrimp dish.

You could look on soup cans for various recipes ideas. You know the commercial for cheesy chicken and rice casserole, that sounds delish. That would cover your MIL taste.

What would I cook for my mother in law? Something poisonous

Err... anyway!

In all seriousness, I think a crock pot meal is an excellent idea. You can't go wrong with some crock pot chicken and mashed potatoes!

In the snow!!!!
Corned Beef and cabbage and carrots and potatoes in the crockpot is always good. My FIL and MIL are midwestern sorts who don't appreciate my cajun grilled shrimp or my sushi with miso soup. I have had to learn how to cook midwestern for them. Oooh they like it when I make ribs...but it is usually warmer when I do that.
