I have a recipe for vegetarian chilli that calls for salad oil? Does anyone know what salad oil is?
I sure don't. I checked around the salad dressing in the store thinking it might be there, but it isn't.

I think it's just a general term. You can use olive, canola, soybean...or any oil you would use to make a salad dressing.

I agree I would use any type of liquid vegetable oil.

Any oil that you can use to make salad dressing. Often indicates a lighter oil. An oil such as Safflower, Corn Oil, Crisco Oil, Canola Oil, or any healthy vegetable oil. Olive Oil is not usually considered a "Salad Oil"

My veggie chili recipe calls for 1 Tbsp. of olive oil. I use an inexpensive olive oil - not the nice ones that you would use for salads or for dipping. Our you can use Canola oil.
