Hiya all This is my first post and my first visit to this website. I am after some help.

My cat was sent to stud some time ago and I was given a due date of the 10th January. I am new to this and had never had kittens before. She went to stud and I was advised that the mating went well. However I dont think she is pregnant. I am sure she has come into season again.

Many thanks.

Hi and welcome!

What breed is she and how old is she? I presume she went to stud early November? Was there any other signs of pregnancy other than a successful mating? A successful mating usually means that all the signs of pregnancy is obvious by 6 weeks unless it's a severe case of false pregnancy which to all intents and purposes is uncommon.

Sorry for all the questions, but it's a bit puzzling!

You can always pm me if you are having more serious concerns that you don't want to voice in public. I am an Abyssinian breeder (registered with CFA) but my dearest cat friends breed Exotics, Persians, Orientals, Burmese and British SH!

Hiya.

She is a bsh and she was 1yr old on the 01st November. She went to stud on the 06th November and I picked her up on the 10th.

I was advised that I should be able to tell with her nipples about 4-5 weeks after mating. Other than that I am very unsure what I was supposed to be looking for.

She ( I think ) started calling again 2 nights ago....

Two things to test for if her nipples aren't obvious...

1. scruff her and see if she goes into the lordosis position (elevator butt)
2. Check her belly - is it soft or hard - if she was mated early Nov, you should be able to feel the kittens inside.

It isn't easy to see contractions on Brits due to the thickness of her fur BUT there should have been at the very least a thinning of coat around her nipples.

If she does go onto lordosis, then it's more or less confirmed that she wasn't pregnant and is now in heat.

Of course, the very best thing to do is get her vet checked!

If she is due in just a few days she would obviously look pregnant. So imo it sounds like she is not.
