Kitten with ear mites

Hi everyone:
My kitten has been on ear drops for earmites for four weeks. How do I know if the ear mites are gone? Is there any way to check?

If you take her to the vet, they can do a check under the microscope and let you know for sure if they are gone or not. What are you using to get rid of the mites? I've found in my experience that over the counter drops do not work very well.
