Ok my husband and I have noticed that there have been many cats suddenly hanging out on our lawn, our porch, and on our cars of late. I know that the majority of cat owners in our area own outdoor cats, many of the males I have noticed are not neutered as well (sigh). We have a 4 month old female kitten, who will not be spayed until February (as per our adoption agreement, they said she was too small to neuter so we had to wait). My husband was wondering if our outside kitty infestation could perhaps be due to the kitten not being spayed yet. Nymeria hasn't gone into heat yet (thankfully... I had a kitten get pregnant at 4 months of age so I am a bit nervous). Could these cats be attracted to our Nymeria possibly, or is it just a coincidence? Today alone I have counted 5 different cats hanging out on my porch (driving my male cat Miles a bit nuts... poor guy).

Trout attracts male cats and she is spayed. They see her in the windows and hang around. Sometimes they pee on my window sill

ugh yes the peeing! I have caught 2 of the cats marking their territory on the porch (yea for Natures Miracle), is it just me or does the urine smell much worse when a male cat sprays as opposed to just regular pee? Hubby has accidently locked our male cat Miles in the bedroom and he had to pee in a corner and the smell doesn't even compare. Pee smell seems pretty easy to get out however spraying seems to take a few tries.

Yes - many cats/kittens can have "silent" heats with no outward signs (calling, rolling, etc.) of being in heat. However, males CAN detect the change in odors.

So keep her well away from any doors/windows or other places she can get out till she's spayed!

Tomcat spraying is the worst smell there is, and is quite different from neutered catpee. and yes, I am sure they can smell her and are lying in wait. If she goes into heat she will do anything to get out, so you will have to be very vigilant until she is spayed.
