Catnip drool

I gave Popsie some catnip today and I noticed he started drooling. I've never seen him do that before but I have heard of other cats doing it. What about catnip makes them drool?

The only thing I could think of is it makes them really relaxed, like when you are sleeping and you drool all over the pillow! *guilty*
It sounds adorable! At least you know he doesn't have cotton mouth! LOL

Is it just catnip? My adult cats always drool when they are very happy. Although catnip makes them very happy and makes them drool, they also drool when other things make them happy. In the case of Alley, when she get up and lays on my chest and snuggles her head up under my chin, I always end up with a wet neck from all her drool.
