My cat is fluffy and white. He likes to sleep on my bed, and I don't have a problem with that, except that when I wash my bed stuff his fur turns in to thousands of little white fuzz balls. It's driving me nuts.

Any suggestions? Is there a material I would be better off using on my bed to avoid this? Is there perhaps a laundry detergent or something that will get rid of it?

Thanks,
Dustin

Perhaps you could experiment with different fabrics, using them as spreads. Ie. you could try a large towel, then maybe a sheet.

I have found different fabrics seem to attract fur more than others.

Are the sheets and blankets coming out of the dryer like this? Its possible that you might need to clean out the lint trap -not the little screen you pull out, but the trap itself. And hose/duct that vents outside could have lint in it or be partially blocked.

Y'know, those fluffballs don't look like cat hair to me. I think strangewings may be right about the lint coming from the dryer...

Actually, it depends on the fur...they look exactly like the little "presents" that Sabina leaves about the house.
JinJin's fur doesn't do it, but Sabina's does.

Oh, cat hair could certainly be adding to the problem. As we all know it gets on and into everything, and will almost felt together with lint on the lint catcher screen.

Not certain this is a care and grooming problem? since it could be a dryer maintenance problem.

I agree.

My cats sleep in my bed. I use a liquid fabric softener in the washer and before I put my sheets in the dryer I make sure that I have cleaned the lint trap. Not just the trap, but around the inside of it as well because lint also gets trapped in there.

My sheets never come out completely cat hair free, but the hair isn't balled up either.

Ideally I would be vacuuming my sheets before taking them off the bed to wash, but I don't really have the energy to do that.

That is cat fur. I had a set of cheaper sheets that the thread count was only 180 and had the exact same problem from Peaches' fur. I've found that sheets with higher thread counts tend to do better (at least 250). In fact it makes a huge difference. I think the less thread count, the loser the weave and thus the fur balls stick to the sheets. With the tighter thread counts, the fur balls just don't seem to stick to the sheets. Also stay away from flannel sheets.
