Is cheese OK as a treat once in a while?

We recently discovered that Whitey loves cheese and will become your best friend and shadow for the rest of the night if you feed him cheese. B told me to feed him some last night to watch what he does and it was the first time he really paid attention to me and was excited around me since we got him.

We only eat the naturally processed stuff.

Most of mine love cheese, especially the harder varieties, but Persil and Ellie will do anything to get their mitts on it! When Persil has escaped outside it's the one thing that will bring her back at once. They all get a bit of cheddar as a treat sometimes. The only problem is the lactose, but most cheeses lose it in processing.

I used to eat Vermont white cheddar aged two years until I just discovered 4 year old Canadian white. Persi will actually grab the cheese out of my hand if I let him! We are both hooked and of course I cannot have any without him knowing about it. How does that work?

Zane acts interested, but if you give him some he turns his nose up at it.

As an occasional treat, I don't see that it will do any harm; but too much of anything is bad.

Cheese is fine, and a little bit of Parmesan or Mozzarella sprinkled over food often tempts even the pickiest eater to try something new.

Ooo! That's good to know then!

Yes, he was eating it directly out of my hands...and making sure he didn't leave any crumbs
